May 13th, 2024. Grainger High School senior Mallory Smith has been named the winner of the $500 Cherokee Lake Realty college scholarship.
College-bound seniors submitted essays on the topic of what Cherokee Lake means to the community of Grainger County. Essays were judged on content, grammar and overall effect. The purpose of the essay is to promote an interest and knowledge of the history of Cherokee Lake. The scholarship program was implemented to help fulfill those objectives. Hailey Williamson, Patience Stout, and Natalie McReynolds were the runners-up and also received scholarship funds.
