May 7th, 2024. Jefferson County High School senior Luke Haston has been named the winner of the $500 Cherokee Lake Realty college scholarship.
College-bound seniors submitted essays on the topic of what Cherokee Lake means to the community of Jefferson County. Essays were judged on content, grammar and overall effect. The purpose of the essay is to promote an interest and knowledge of the history of Cherokee Lake. The scholarship program was implemented to help fulfill those objectives. Emily Royston and Bryson Letterman were the runners-up and also received scholarship funds.
