Cherokee Lake will be abuzz this weekend, as the 28,000 acre reservoir will play host to the Strike King Bassmaster College National Championship, presented by Bass Pro Shops. The prestigious event, hosted by Visit Jefferson County TN, will run from July 10-12. Blast off time is 6 a.m. each morning, and weigh-in is scheduled for 2 p.m. each afternoon. “Jefferson County is beyond excited to host the Bassmaster College Series National Championship in 2025 on the beautiful Cherokee Lake,” said Lauren Hurdle, director of tourism for Visit Jefferson County TN. “This event not only high lights the incredible fishing opportunities our area has to offer but also brings together a community passionate about the sport and the great outdoors. We’re proud to welcome anglers, families, and visitors from all over, and we look forward to show casing the natural beauty and hospitality that make our region truly special.” B.A.S.S. last visited Cherokee Lake in a College Series event held there in 2023. The Strike King Bassmaster College National Championship will showcase the nation’s top collegiate anglers as they navigate 400 miles of scenic shoreline filled with largemouth and smallmouth bass. As many as 160 teams of anglers representing universities across the nation will compete for the title of national champions. Daily take-offs and weigh-ins will be held at the Cherokee Dam Boat Ramp, located on Renfro Road in Jefferson City. Spectators are welcome to attend and enjoy the excitement of the tournament.
